JEWELLERY CARE

CARING FOR YOUR FINE JEWELLERY

Florentine maintains the highest standards in materials and craftsmanship, creating jewellery that can be passed down from generations to generations. With some simple, basic care, you can protect and preserve your jewellery for years to come.

Daily wear exposes your fine jewellery to dust and pollution which can cloud the brilliance of your gemstones. The surface of gold, platinum and silver jewellery can become dull. Prongs and clasps can become timeworn and result in the loss of a precious gemstone or an entire piece of jewellery.

Professional cleaning is recommended once a year. You may send your jewellery piece back to us for professional servicing including professional cleaning, repairing clasps and earring backs, tightening prongs and re-polishing at a nominal fee.

GOLD JEWELLERY

Between professional cleaning, most gold jewellery can be maintained with a non-abrasive cleaner. Always examine your jewellery regularly to make sure settings are snug.

Avoid exposing your gold jewellery to household bleach and harsh cleaning chemicals, as this will quickly cause gold to discolour and possibly disintegrate. Extreme temperatures and perfume can also damage jewellery.

Jewellery storage is important as well. Between wearings, we recommended that you place it back in its original case or another suitably lined box or pouch.

MOISSANITES

Take care to protect your jewellery from impact against hard surfaces and avoid contact with abrasive surfaces. Gemstones can scratch other gemstones and wear away at precious metals. Thus, avoid stacking rings and bracelets that can become vulnerable to such abrasion. Store your jewellery with separated fabric-lined compartments.

To clean moissanites, use a mild solution of water and liquid hand soap. Alternatively, you may use six parts water and one part ammonia. Do not use abrasive cleaners for any type of jewellery. Brush your jewellery gently with a soft toothbrush and rinse well. Wipe dry with a clean soft towel, or blow dry with cool air using a hair dryer.
