ABOUT MOISSANITE

UNRIVALLED FIRE AND BRILLIANCE

There is no other gemstone, natural or man-made, that compares to the fire and brilliance of moissanite. A moissanite will never lose its sparkle and is an enduring symbol of love.

A moissanite is forever.

WHY MOISSANITE

MODERN LUXURY REDEFINED

Florentine works with only the finest moissanites and quality precious metals. We craft fine jewellery to the highest level of detail.

Moissanite has a great value proposition and is a rational choice. As the appraisal of moissanite increases linearly with carat weight, size is only a matter of personal preference. A world of infinite possibilities awaits you.

A SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE CHOICE

Moissanites are created in a controlled laboratory with minimal environmental impact. No mining is involved in the creation process. They are also conflict-free and are a socially responsible choice.

HARDNESS AND TOUGHNESS

Hardness measures a gemstone's resistance to scratches, while toughness measures a gemstone's resistance to chipping and breakage.

Moissanite scores a 9.25 on the Mohs scale, making it one of the hardest substances on earth. It is very resistant to scratching and this makes it suitable for everyday wear.

Moissanite is tougher than a diamond. Unlike a diamond, moissanite has no fracture points. Moissanite is more resilient to accidental chipping.

HIGH HEAT DURABILITY

Moissanite has high heat durability and can easily withstand temperature variations at a jeweller’s bench. Moissanites exhibit more heat resistance than many other gemstones. Tests prove that even at 1000ºC, moissanites remain intact and as brilliant as the day they were created.

THE ORIGINS OF MOISSANITE

BORN FROM THE STARS

In 1893, Henri Moissan first found the gemstone while examining rock samples from a fallen meteorite. He initially mistook the crystal for diamonds, but discovered later in 1904 that moissanite was a gemstone in its own right. Moissanites are composed of silicon carbide.

TODAY

Our moissanites are synthesized in a controlled laboratory and this technique was developed after many years of research and refinement.

Our master cutters and polishers do not compromise on cut quality and ensure every Florentine moissanite reaches its maximum potential.

Each Florentine moissanite is thoroughly inspected to ensure that it meets our stringent quality standards.
